On 28 September 2022, Chandler MHM Limited held a seminar on “investing in the hospitality sector in Japan”. The presenters were Naoki Ishikawa, from MHM Tokyo, and Arkrapol Pichedvanichok, from Chandler MHM in Bangkok.

Japan is expected to return to being one of the world’s most popular growing tourist destinations, which provides opportunities for the hospitality industry. This seminar covered a range of topics including business models for hotel investment/management in Japan including the ‘soft branding’ scheme, key legal considerations for hotel developments and acquisitions, investment schemes and financial arrangements, and typical legal structures such as “TMK” and “GT-TK”.
